How you can help
     
There are many ways that you can help us at the shelter, these are listed below. Please follow the links for more information.
     
  • Provide a home for an animal friend. Please see our rehoming page for the animals currently looking for homes.
  • Sponsor an animal at the shelter for £1 a week. Please see our sponsor page for the animals that live permanently at the shelter due to ill health or other problems. These animals are unable to be re-homed.
  • Become a member - You can become a member of the shelter for £15 (single) or 25 (family) per year. You will receive a keyring, a car window sticker and four newsletters a year. Please contact the shelter if you would like to become a member.
  • Monthly donations - You could set up a standing order to contribute a monthly donation. If you donate £5 or more each month you will also become member and receive our newsletters.
  • Volunteer at the shelter - We are looking for volunteers to help with the cleaning and feeding duties at the shelter. There are many different types of animals that all require different feeding and cleaning duties. Please see our volunteer page and find out more.
  • Remember the animals in your will - please contact the sanctuary for the legacy leaflet which will outline factors involved in making changes to your will and how to make a bequest to the Yorkshire Animal Shelter.
  • Help at our Open Days - Do you have any spare time to help us at our open days? we need help with manning stalls, car park attendants, manning the entrance, serving tea, putting up tents and marques, putting up posters. Please see our events page for our next open day and contact the shelter if you would like to help us. We run 3 open days a year to raise money for the running of the shelter.
  • We need help displaying our posters - We are looking for people to help us put up posters about the shelter. Please contact us if you can help.
  • Any unwanted new items? - We are always looking for unwanted new items to to use as tombola prizes at our open days. Please note, we no longer have a bric-a-brac stall and so only want new items.
