Helpful items wanted
We are always happy to received items from members
of the public to help the shelter continue its business. Really
useful items are strong black bin liners, kitchen roll, rubber gloves
and newspapers. If you passing by during our open hours and fancy
making a donation of this sort - please feel free!! Thank you!
New volunteers wanted
Due to the sad departure of our volunteer handy-man
Al, who is retiring at the end of May, YAS will soon be looking
for people to help out with jobs around the shelter. Things such
as painting, gardening and mowing the lawns are the main jobs that
need doing. But having someone who can make the odd repair to the
pens or rabbit runs would be great too! Check out our volunteers
page for more information. Thanks to Al for all his hard work over
the years, he will be missed by animals and volunteers alike.
Open Day
YAS would like to say a big thank you to all its
volunteers and supporters who helped to make their last open day
on the 26th April their most successful yet. A grand total of £3,500
was raised which will be put to very good use, very soon!
Sad news
It is with regret that we have to
announce that Buster the pig was put to sleep on the 20th February
2009. We would like to thank all her sponsors who have cared for
her over the years by sending in regular donations. Buster was a
true character and one that will be missed.
New arrival
We now have
a ferret! His name is Marvin
and he is looking for a new home. Visit his page for more information
or call in at the shelter for a cuddle!
Special appeals
Special Appeal
- Scruffy has been at the
shelter for many months now and is started to gain weight as a result
of pen-life. He is a very friendly boy, gets on well with other
cats and keeps getting over looked because he has long fur and people
don't want the hassle of grooming him. If you think you can offer
Scruffy the much needed home he deserves come up and see him soon!
Special Appeal
- Zippy & Bungle
have been at the shelter for 6 months now. They were handed in as
tiny kittens after being found on the doorstep of the vets. They
are ready for a new home now but the longer they stay here the less
likely it is that they will find one as most people either want
adult cats or small kittens and these guys are somewhere in between...
If you want to benefit from having young cats with the personality
of kittens but without the stresses that young kittens can cause
think about giving them a chance...
Special Appeal
- Cleo has been at the shelter
for over 6 months now. She is often overlooked because she is very
shy and tends to run into her pen and hide behind her bed. After
only a short while though, she soon comes out of her shell and is
purring away! Cleo is also overlooked due to the fact that she has
long hair!
Volunteers
needed! - We are always in need of volunteers to help with
the daily cleaning and feeding duties for the rescue animals. Do
you have any spare time to help us with the daily
shelter duties? Please contact the shelter if you can
help.
